Fiduciary Risk Management Services
ERISA’s rules are very clear: Every decision you make as a fiduciary must be in the best interests of plan participants and their beneficiaries.
As a fiduciary to your company’s corporate retirement plan, you are charged with making sure the plan is following a prudent procedural process that is well-documented. We guide our clients through an extensive Fiduciary Plan Review process designed to minimize fiduciary risk. We provide necessary documentation and tools to ensure that plan fiduciaries are acting prudently.
Advizrs utilizes the Fiduciary Fitness Program™, which is an independent compliance tool designed to measure the health of a retirement plan. The program provides resources which are employed to identify potential weaknesses in your plan and remedy weaknesses through education, diligence and process.
The all-encompassing deliverable of the Fiduciary Plan Review™ provides education, documentation and plan metrics to meet fiduciary responsibilities and improve operational efficiency.
Fee Benchmarking & Vendor Analysis
The Department of Labor requires plan sponsors to take an active role in determining whether retirement plan expenses, features and services of a plan are reasonable and competitive in the marketplace.
As a full disclosure organization, we embrace this regulation, and work closely with our clients to shoulder much of this responsibility by providing a thorough market analysis. We identify retirement plan providers who deliver the highest quality products and services at the most competitive total cost, keeping your unique circumstances in mind. Within the framework of our analysis we will present a balanced analysis of the different plan provider components including: recordkeeping, technology, compliance, investment management, communications and costs. This process allows us to identify core strengths and weaknesses of each prospective bidder.
The results are documented in our B3 Provider Analysis™ report and will provide fiduciaries with meaningful fee, service and investment benchmarks.
Plan Design Consultation
With extensive knowledge in plan design and plan administration, we work with plan sponsors to create an opportunity to enhance participant outcomes through changes in plan design. We review organizational goals, plan participation history, employee deferral rates, and employer contributions, and then introduce ways to produce more efficient outcomes that are aligned with company values.
As part of our plan design review, we also consider plan processing to make sure the plan design can be effectively managed to avoid potential ERISA violations. Through the review process, we utilize several tools and checklists including: Plan Audit Review Checklist, Compliance Checklist and Fiduciary File Checklist.
Our initial approach is to understand the fiduciary needs of the plan sponsor and determine the level of involvement related to investment selection and on-going monitoring of the plan investments. Whether you are looking for a more active role in investment selection or a do-it-for-me approach, we offer several choices and help you decide which option is the best fit for you and for your plan participants.
We identify the needs of the plan participants and build an investment menu designed to give participants the flexibility to choose among different asset classes and investment strategies. The process includes more than fifteen qualitative and quantitative metrics used to select and rank: investment options, managers and investment strategies across multiple asset classes, style and peer group rankings and risk-adjusted return characteristics.
To ensure prudent plan governance, we monitor the investment strategy documented in an investment policy statement and provide the on-going reporting and documentation. Our insightful and objective review gives our clients a well-rounded approach to managing plan investments.
Defined contribution plans play an increasingly important role in the future of retirement. For many participants, these plans will be their primary source of retirement income. Plan sponsors shoulder a huge responsibility to keep employees informed.
We believe the key to long-term financial planning is education and committing to a process of investing. We work with plan sponsors to institute a customized education and enrollment strategy to fit their organization and employee demographics. Our consultants will provide periodic on-site group enrollment and education meetings for employees at all levels.
Our meetings are structured to provide plan participants with a framework on how to save for retirement, including understanding how to set a retirement goal and establishing a process to meet that goal. We monitor, through the use of tools and resources, the effectiveness of the retirement plan benefit and if the participants are on track.
